2018 Bronze Quill Awards Gala
IABC Houston celebrated the strength of houston's communicators at the 2018 bronze quill awards gala.
IABC Houston was honored to host our annual Bronze Quill Awards Gala on June 14, 2018, at the Junior League of Houston. At the event, IABC Houston recognized Harris County Judge Ed Emmett as the Executive Communicator of the Year in recognition for leadership in several times of crisis – particularly last summer’s Hurricane Harvey -- and for his impassioned advocacy in the recovery and rebuilding phases following the storm’s disastrous path across the Houston region. Read more about Judge Emmett and his outstanding achievements here. We were thrilled to have Khambrel Marshall, KPRC 2 Meteorologist, as the gala's Master of Ceremonies.

Downs Matthews Memorial Scholarship
At the Bronze Quill Awards gala, Imani Stevens was awarded the 2018 Downs Matthews Memorial Scholarship. Imani is a senior at the University of Houston studying Media Studies. When she is not at school or working at Project Row Houses as a museum guide, you can find her as an event DJ. What started out as a hobby turned into her passion. She intends to take her talents on air and work for a radio station after graduation. Later in life, she hopes to create a nonprofit devoted to exposing inner city kids to the field of communication and arts so they have access to discovering what they love. Congratulations, Imani!
