Ryan Holeywell, Communications Director at the Texas Medical Center, will share his insights with IABC Houston on how the largest medical center in the world is communicating to push the limits of what's possible.

Holeywell will discuss the challenges of developing and disseminating consistent messages about the world-class medical services, as well as the innovative research taking place at the Texas Medical Center, to domestic and international audiences.

He will also focus on engaging with the more than 60 institutions that are a part of the Center to tell cohesive and compelling stories, as well featuring the contributions of the hundreds of individuals who work at the Texas Medical Center, many of whom have earned international acclaim, like 2018 Nobel Prize winner Dr. James Allison.

About the Speaker

Ryan Holeywell leads communications efforts across the Texas Medical Center. In his role, he oversees the news team that produces TMC’s magazine Pulse, communicates with the news media and works closely with TMC’s social media and marketing teams.

Prior to joining the Texas Medical Center, he led communications at Rice University’s Kinder Institute for Urban Research from 2015 to 2017, helping the organization achieve national notoriety.

Holeywell spent more than a decade as an award-winning journalist in Texas and Washington, D.C., where he was employed by the Houston Chronicle and Governing magazine, among other outlets. His work has been published by the Washington Post and USA Today, and he has appeared on CNN, CNBC and NPR to discuss his reporting. Holeywell has addressed groups including the Bipartisan Policy Center, the National Association of Regional Councils, the National League of Cities and the Eno Center for Transportation to discuss policy issues and trends.
