From George H.W. Bush’s era in the White House to the Bush family’s return to Houston, Jim McGrath had a front-row seat to history as longtime spokesman and friend to our 41st president. At our April 25 professional development luncheon, Jim will talk with us about his time with the late President Bush and first lady Barbara Bush, taking our questions in what promises to be a memorable interactive session and a highlight of IABC Houston’s year.

Jim McGrath started his career at The White House, working as a staff writer and editor in the Executive Office of the President from 1991 to 1993. For the next quarter century, he served President George H. W. Bush as his post-White House spokesman. As President Bush's speechwriter he produced hundreds of speeches, statements and video presentations in dozens of foreign countries and most of the 50 U.S. states.

Simon & Schuster published Jim’s first book, “Heartbeat: George Bush in His Own Words” in 2001. He later assisted former Commerce Secretary Robert A. Mosbacher, Sr. with his family memoirs “Going to Windward,” published in 2010. Jim looks forward to the release this spring of broadcaster Dave Ward’s memoirs, “Good Evening, Friends,” which McGrath helped research and co-write.

Since 2006, McGrath has teamed with Chris Begala to leverage their unique experiences and contacts helping clients achieve their strategic communications objectives. Together, Begala and McGrath have over half a century of media, writing and political experience.

Please note that refunds are issued only in the form of a credit toward a future IABC Monthly Luncheon.
