As a communicator, you play a critical role in advancing sustainability and better business operation. While people like our speaker are hired to “make” the news by delivering key technical projects or solving problems, communicators are crucial in “telling the news” - turning that achievement or outcome into something readily understandable. The impact of this is two-fold. Firstly, our internal intentions and achievements reach our stakeholders in a way that makes sense to them. Secondly, their often-escalating needs or expectations are received and brought back inside for us to now consider and respond to.

Speaker: Olivia Tyler, Sustainability Expert & TED Speaker, Sydney, Australia

Olivia Tyler is a firm and obstinate believer that business in its many forms can and should be a force for good.

With over 20 years’ experience working in the consumer products, retail and financial services sectors, she spends much of her time finding practical ways to demystify what operating sustainably as an organization means.

She has degrees in Marine Science and Environmental Engineering, is a mentor, a Board Director, a passionate advocate for Science Technology Engineering and Maths (STEM) and has graced the TED stage.

She balances this with her natural ability to procrastinate, a love of good wine, total and utter devotion to her animals and her staggeringly bad Spanish.

Pricing Information (new)

For several months, IABC Houston has been providing free virtual programming to members and non-members alike, so that we could maximize our support for the communications professional community during the COVID-19 pandemic. This month, we are reintroducing nominal fees for non-members but keeping admission free for IABC members.

Charity Opportunity: Hurricane Laura Relief (optional)

Our neighbors in southwest Louisiana and parts of southeast Texas have been devastated by Hurricane Laura, and we see this as an opportunity to give back.

This month, we are including an optional donation to SBP, a non-profit organization that provides immediate recovery efforts for natural disasters in the U.S. SBP is on the ground now in Hurricane Laura-impacted communities. Your support will help these hard-hit families recover more quickly and return to the safety of their homes.

How to donate: When you register for this event, select your Member or Non-Member ticket and answer whether you would like to donate. Below that, you will see where to "add" a donation. You will be able to type in the amount of your donation. Then you will see two "items" in your order cart at checkout.

Again, this is purely optional and not required for you to attend the webinar. Your generosity is greatly appreciated.

Please note that refunds are issued only in the form of a credit toward a future IABC Monthly Luncheon. Donations will not be refunded.
