SXSW senior publicist Brett Cannon and Giant Noise Vice President Jennifer Sinski will share how each uses influencers as storytellers and marketers for their clients and events. Discover insights about identifying types of influencers, key advantages of working with them, and crafting powerful messaging with the influencer in mind.

About the speakers

Brett Cannon is senior publicist at SXSW where he manages the company's PR efforts across all 24 tracks of their Conference programming. In this capacity, he works with some of the largest media companies in the world, and has had the privilege of executing the press strategy and logistics around the visits of former President Barack Obama, First Lady Michelle Obama and Vice President Joseph Biden. In addition, he provided press support during the South By South Lawn event held at The White House in October 2016. Prior to joining SXSW, Brett started Paper Thin Media, an entertainment PR firm, as a Junior while attending Texas State University. Paper Thin Media specialized in PR for musicians and comedians, event publicity, and regional film PR. After several years on his own as a boutique agency, he sold his company to a division of Edelman, and joined as SVP, Lifestyle and Entertainment, where he worked for two years before joining SXSW. Outside of PR, Cannon has abandoned all efforts at squad goals, enjoys too much ice cream and is an amateur expert at the Specialty Coffee trade.

Jennifer Sinski is the vice president at Giant Noise, a public relations and social media management firm, based in Austin, Texas with offices in New York City and San Antonio, Texas. Sinski is a graduate of Southwestern University and joined the Giant Noise team in 2014. Prior to Giant Noise, Sinski worked as freelance publicist for a variety of lifestyle clients and was the campaign planner and special projects director at lookthinkmake, an Austin-based advertising agency, where she gained extensive experience with event promotion and marketing. Her clients included national nonprofits such as The National Campaign, real estate developments, alcohol brands, and more. Additionally, Sinski worked with Austin-based advertising agency Tilted Chair Creative on the public relations initiatives and strategy for a wide range of clients. Her PR expertise in alcohol, lifestyle, media, culinary, hospitality, corporate, and entertainment includes working with such diverse clients as Texas Monthly; travel and hospitality clients such as Native Hostel, and events during SXSW for The New York Times, CNN, and WIRED, among many others.
