It is when our members achieve results that we, as a chapter, reach our goals:
2006 – 2007 Chapter Goals:
Long Range Goals:
Help Houston become a communicator’s Mecca
We’re improving the view by successfully educating the business community on the value of our profession developing a high profile for professional communicators to ensure a demand for our skills offering strong networking and professional development opportunities.
Make IABC/Houston the first place businesses go for communications assistance
We’re getting through by developing high visibility for our chapter in the Houston business community providing consultation to business and civic groups on matters requiring communication expertise creating a supportive network of chapter members to serve as a resource to outside audiences.
Respond quickly to the changing needs of our members
We’re raising our sights by scouting for emerging trends and issues that create new needs offering a spectrum of programs that support both networking and professional development offering specialized programs to satisfy "niche" interests among members.
Provide high quality communication education to members and non-members
We’re sharpening the focus by regularly surveying members’ and the business community’s needs and interests modifying chapter services based on members’ suggestions providing and promoting high-quality presentations and seminars.
Value the full participation of members and use the diversity of all members in programming and decision-making
We’re creating an opening by communicating effectively to ensure seminars, programs, and lunch meetings routinely have high attendance encouraging committee and board members to share ideas and talents promoting the value of active involvement so volunteers get the most from their participation welcoming the expertise of senior members via IABC leadership, service in the community, and member mentoring.
Demonstrate excellent communications
We’re making breakthroughs by offering award competitions that evaluate and critique members, to help them improve while regarding those who are best in class strategically planning chapter communications and programming to achieve specific objectives, using best available practices staying current with emerging communication technology and using it when appropriate publicizing the chapter’s and members’ successes regularly assessing and improving our communication effectiveness seeking open, two-way dialog with members and acting upon their input and ideas.
